Our Mission

Bridges is a community driven church dedicated to seeing the residents of urban Nashville discover the love of God, the hope of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that the people of Music City would be transformed one life at a time by an encounter with Jesus, through relationship, discipleship, and worship.

Our Vision

"A place where God's presence and His people connect"

We know that the world doesn't need another church service, another great band, or even another great preacher. We need God's presence. For us, everything starts and ends with His presence. We truly believe that one encounter with Jesus can change everything. Our specific vision is rooted in worship. In John 4:23, Jesus tells a Samaritan woman at the well "a time is coming, and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." We believe when we teach Scripture and story THROUGH songs, we worship in spirit and truth! So at Bridges, you'll see our weekend services as a liturgy of music, where we live out Colossians 3:16 - "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts". Located in the heart of Music City, we figure there's no better way to hide God's word in our hearts, than by merging music with message.

Our Values

Service, Authenticity, Unity, Creativity, and Excellence, aka S.A.U.C.E.

The SAUCE is what runs through the veins of our ministry to ensure that we are both effective and Christ-centered. We believe living out these 5 elements can and will change our hearts, and thus our communities.

SERVICE. In Matt 20:28, Jesus tells His disciples “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus was the ultimate servant, and our joy is to follow His lead by serving others. Two practical ways we do that is in our community, and in our local church. In our city, there are many incredible non-profits and ministries that are serving needs, and we encourage you to jump into serving at one of them. Within the Church are many areas where you can join the mission by serving, in Sunday ministries, global and local mission trips, and serve groups.

AUTHENTICITY. In recent years, authenticity has become a sort of buzzword. People want authenticity in their friends, in the brands they use, and in the influencers they listen to. We believe the Church should be the most authentic place on the planet. In Luke 8:17, Jesus said "For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open." How you live in private will always pour into your public life. So we want to be real with where we are, be real with God, and in community. Our desire is to see people live individual lives of worship, so that when we come together in a corporate setting, it's an authentic, raw expression of our hearts!

UNITY. “How good and pleasant is it when brothers dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133). There's enough division in the world, so our aim is unity. At Bridges, we want to see what brings us together, over what tears the world apart. We do this by honoring one another, praying for the churches in our city, and engaging in community. We believe Jesus meant it when He said, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:35)

CREATIVITY. The very first thing that God reveals about His character in Scripture is that He is a creative force. "In the beginning God created..." (Gen. 1:1). We serve a God who is creative in nature and we are made in his image, with a creative gene. Living in a hub of creativity like Music City, we want Bridges to be a dream factory. We write songs, create art, produce films, influence culture, and find a myriad of ways to live in the light of a creative Father.

EXCELLENCE. In Colossians 3:23-24, the Apostle Paul instructs us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as if working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Simply put, whatever you do, it's worth doing well. Not to earn the love of God, but to honor Him. Excellence honors God, and we believe God honors excellence. Whether serving a local non-profit, releasing an album, or working in our everyday context, we want to honor God through lives of excellence.
